Cat Tien National Park is located in three provinces of Dong Nai, Lam Dong and Binh Phuoc. Cat Tien National Park has a diversified topography with hills along the banks, plains and sloping flows. In 1978, the South Cat Tien and North Cat Tien parks were put under the State's protection. In 1992, the Cat Loc Park was listed in the program for the protection of natural wild animals and flora. In December 1998, these three parks joined together to become the Cat Tien National Park, under the management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh City - Cat Tien (L,D)

In the morning, set off for the 4 hour drive north to Nam Cat Tien National Park. The Park was established in 1998 and is actually comprised of two separate areas, Nam Cat Tien and Cat Loc, which are linked by the Dong Nai River. Together they cover around 185,000 acres of evergreen rainforest which is home to and amazing array of flora and fauna.
On arrival you will take a light afternoon trek through the forest to visit the bear rehabilitation center. This facility has been established by Wildlife at Risk (a local NGO) who take bears that have been captured for the bile market or pet trade. It is hoped that after a time in the holding enclose that some of the endemic bears can be released back into the forest. In the late afternoon return to the lodge where dinner will be served that evening.
After dinner, take a night drive into the Park using a spotlight to view nocturnal wildlife.
Overnight in the National Park.

Day 2: Cat Tien - Ho Chi Minh (B)
Early morning departure: drive then trek to crocodile lake, with plenty of opportunities to see a wide variety of birds and other jungle life; if you are lucky, you may see larger mammals and the Siamese crocodile. These crocodiles are critically endangered and this is one of the last places in the world that you can still see them in the wild. On arriving at the lake a breakfast is available.

Return to the lodge before taking the 4-hour drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
